On 23 March 2015, Uli Baege, a delegate from UEM (United Evangelical Mission), accompanied by Rev Juvenal Rwamunyana, President of Kigali Presbytery ; Innocent Semaringa, in charge of the Community Development Program in EPR ; and Jean Baptiste Rukundo, Focal Point Adjunct of Kigali Presbytery, visited a Bugesera Project funded by UEM. This project has four components : vocational training, improving agricultural production, and environmental protection. These trainings will take six months.
During this visit, the President of Kigali Presbytery received the guest and presented a summary of the activities that have been done. In his speech, he thanked UEM for its support and said that this support will change the lives of more than 200 households.
After visiting different vocational training groups (welding and hair dressing) Mr. Uli Baege said that he is very satisfied by what EPR has done with the support received from UEM. He encouraged the young people in training to continue to work well to become persons who will serve their family, church and the country.
The young people in the training manifested their joy in receiving the delegation from UEM. They said, “Now we are able to be employed or to create our own small business.” They said that they have also created a small group of saving where every person saves 100Rwf every week. That saving will help them to buy some materials that they will use for starting their businesses.
In closing the visit, the President of Kigali Presbytery encouraged the young people to put effort into learning.
Due to rain, visits that were planned to other training programs were impossible and have been rescheduled to take place on 30 March.
